Student scholarship applications are due September 19, 2008.
Student posters: The posters competition will be organized as an ACM Student Research Competition (SRC). The top posters (1st, 2nd, & 3rd place) in the graduate and undergraduate student categories will advance to the ACM SRC Grand Finals and will be recognized at the prestigious ACM Awards banquet.

Student Volunteer Program: Student volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about and discuss the latest high performance computing and networking technologies and meet leading researchers from around the world while contributing to the success of SC08. Students will receive complimentary conference registration, housing (for out-of-town volunteers) and most meals. Applications are due Friday, August 1, 2008. Applications are available at

Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) Conference 2008
Student Role Model Award: Highest award given by SHPE to a student member. Presented to an active student member who has provided selfless and outstanding contributions to their chapter and the Hispanic community, while at the same time, maintaining academic excellence. A letter of endorsement from the nominee's chapter board must accompany the nomination.

Rice NSF Advance - Negotiating The Ideal Faculty Position Workshop
A workshop for senior women graduate students and post-docs who are interested in pursuing an academic career. The workshop is designed to provide participants hands-on experience to enhance their knowledge of and ability to find the right faculty position. Through generous support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) ADVANCE Institutional Transformation Award, all travel, meals, and lodging costs will be provided for workshop participants.
