2010 Events

April 9-10, 2010 – Atlanta, GA
Computer Human Interaction Mentoring (CHIMe) Workshop
This event is co-located with CHI 2010, and scholarships are available for both. Deadline for applications is October 23, 2009.

November 14-20, 2009– Portland, OR

The ELA will have submissions to the technical program and participate in the Broadening Engagement program. ELA Leadership Team members make significant contributions to this annual event: Raquell Holmes is the chair for Broadening Engagement (BE) for SC10, and Roscoe Giles will be the chair for BE for SC11.

Are you an undergraduate faculty, an undergraduate or graduate student, or a high school teacher in the computational sciences? Funding is available for the SC09 Education Program. Deadline: Saturday, August 1, 2009.

The SC09 Broader Engagement (BE) initiative will award participation grants to provide travel assistance to individuals from groups that have traditionally been under-represented in computing: African-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, women and disabled people. These grants are available to undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled full time for at least one semester during the 2008-2009 academic year and are at least 18 years of age. Faculty and young professionals also will be considered, with a preference for faculty whose students are receiving SC09 BE grants. In addition to receiving complimentary conference registration, grant recipients will be reimbursed for their SC09 lodging and transportation expenses. Applications are encouraged from students and young professionals in all computing-related disciplines.
