Outcome Goal
More minority students retained in CISE disciplines and appropriately on to graduate school in CISE disciplines
Expected Outcomes
- Increased retention of minority undergraduate students through graduation.
- Provision of relevant encouragement, education, support and preparation for graduate education.
- Increased interest and enrollment in graduate school.
- Increased opportunities for career enhancement and advancement through direct linkages with some of the country’s most powerful and well-positioned individuals and institutions in computing that have an explicit charge and commitment to ensuring the success of minority scholars in computing.
Overall Strategy
National Community: Developing a national network of colleagues who share the common experience of being a minority student or faculty at a research one institution, and others deeply committed to the success of these students and faculty.
Ongoing Contact: Providing strong networking opportunities through in-person and videoteleconference/teleconference meetings, collaborative projects, online means of staying connected (Websites, Moodles, chats, instant messaging, listserves) and regular communication throughout the years of the Alliance and beyond.
